Today is the official opening of the Fredrikstad Animation Festival. The festival is the oldest animation festival in the Nordic and Baltic countries, and an important platform for animators throughout Scandinavia. In other words a great opportunity to check out young talent, learn more about animation, and see a wide range of animated movies. Student films, commissioned films and commercials, and short films all take part in the competition. The festival, which lasts for 5 days, will feature talks, workshops and screenings. Many of the events are free. There is lots for kids too, with a free screening of Monsters, Inc (Sat at 6pm) and free animation workshops among other things. More on www.animationfestival.no
