Love it or hate it, Fairytales, the song with which Alexander Rybak won the Eurovision song contest for Norway back in May, was for many the hit of 2009. Fitting to feature it here on the last day of the year I figured. Bet you hear that tune again a few times tonight if you’re out and about partying… Have a good one, and see you next year!
New Year’s Run, Fredrikstad
Feeling energetic today? Join the Nyttårsløpet (New Year’s run) in Fredrikstad. The race, which is open to all, takes place every year on 31 Dec, and is a popular event, with hundreds of locals taking part. Runners must go round a 1.6km loop in the city centre twice. No registration required. No excuse not to take part 
Start at 2.30pm on Stortorvet, by the Fredriksstad Blad building.
