Annual festivals and events in Halden

Heading to Halden this summer? Lots of events and festivals are taking place in the beautiful border town, so see if you can make your stay coincide with one of them. Here are the main ones:
- Fønix Cruise Nights, every Wed evening from early May and all throughout the summer, old American car enthusiasts gather on Fisketorget. Beautiful vintage cars, plus 50s fashion and music. www.nostalgia.no
- Halden Day, Jun, big annual downtown shopping and market day
- The Food and Wooden Boats Festival, Jun, the town’s biggest and grandest party, harbour area
- The Border Race, Aug, annual cross-country bike race between Strömstad and Halden, with finish line at Fredriksten Fortress. Over 6,000 participants competed in the 80km race in 2009. www.grenserittet.com
- Bilsport Classic Grensetreff, Aug, a rally for cars registered before 1983. Car show, entertainment and music, Fredriksten Fortress. www.grensetreff.no
